Narrator - You approach a group of Undead near a mill, arguing so loud they apparently don't mind if others listen in.
Azem - So what if they die?
Prin - They're people! How would you like them to act?
Azem - They'd leave us to--
Nivellah - Silent. We have a visitor.
Narrator - The three Undead direct their attention towards you. One with a stern, disapproving look, the other two with curious, angled faces.
[[Walk in and politely ask what's going on.|ask]]
[[Hold your distance and ask what they were yelling about.|askunkind]]*The undeads leave.
Later, the player could find their corpses outside a nearby village.
Talking to a farmer, he says they killed the monsters when they came close by..
Some said they were asking for food. But that sounds like nonsense. Why would Undead ask for food?*
*The player walks into the food stockpile to find all the food is rotten. The undead must have argued for a while...**The undead leave the mill.
The humans can come back to it, to find all the food rotten.
Unless the player brings them some food, they'll be angry at the undead and the player.*Azem - Walk along, please. We don't need your help.
Prin - Do you know how to tell whether food is fresh?
[[Blink in surprise. That's what they were arguing about?]]
[[Ask why Undead care about food.|Blink in surprise. That's what they were arguing about?]]Prin - Exactly!
Azem - Why bother? They'll just want more tomorrow.
Nivellah - ...And as you can see, we don't know how to deal with it.
[[Ask the Lizard why he doesn't want to give them the food.]]
[[Ask if it wasn't it the human's food to begin with?]]Nivellah - Oh, will you now?
[[Yes.|Fight]]
[[Ask them why they don't just give the food. They have no use for it, do they?]]*Fighting ensues with the Undead.*
[[The undead die.|Kill the undead]]Azem - The way I see it, all you living folk are a hassle. If there were no living people in the world, we'd have no famines, no mourning at funerals, no need to constantly breed like rabbits.
If everyone was Undead, the world would be much simpler. We could spend time on what matters, rather than worry if we get to *live* tomorrow.
[[Ask if it wasn't it the human's food to begin with?]]Nivellah - No. Don't know if they've told you that or what, but it's wrong. We found this mill abandoned. All the food, untouched. We've no use for it, so we let it lie.
I won't be called a thief. We're trying to build something decent here.
[[Ask the Lizard why he doesn't want to give them the food.]]
[[Ponder out loud what they're trying to build.]]Nivellah - A society. A place for the Undead to live on the same terms as any living. A safe haven for the outcasts and the abandoned.
We don't want to hurt anyone.
[[Ask the Lizard why he doesn't want to give them the food.]]
[[Ask if it wasn't it the human's food to begin with?]]
[[Cut to the chase. They should give back the food, then.|safety before food]]
[[Say it's a noble idea, and that you want to see them succeed.]]
[[Stare in horror. You better cut them down now before they succeed.|Fight]]Narrator - Under protests from the Lizard, the Elf leads you to a large stockpile, but as soon as you enter the room you notice something's wrong. A smell hangs in the air.
You open a crate. All the food is rotten to the core. The stench explodes into the room and you desperately fight for air. The three Undead seem not to notice, and glance at you with puzzled looks.
Prin - What's wrong?
[[I'm sorry... All the food is spoiled.]]
[[Nothing. It's... uh, fine. I'll take it.]]Prin - Oh no.
Azem - Of course it is. Dreadfully inconvenient, I have always said.
Nivellah - Be quiet.
Azem - How do you even tell if food is fresh? Apples have to be green, but bread has to not be green! Pure nonsense.
Nivellah - Shut it, Azem!
Narrator - The lizard is clearly taken aback at her raised voice.
Prin - What do we do now?
[[Say you can't deliver this. The humans will think it's an insult.]]Nivellah - Stop trying to fool us. We can see you're sick just thinking about it.
[[Relent. Admit all the food is spoiled.|I'm sorry... All the food is spoiled.]]Nivellah - We need a guarantee that they'll stop harassing us.
[[Offer to talk to the humans if they give you the food.]]
[[Admit you can't give that. But you can help determine whether the food is fresh.]]*This conversation would change depending on whether the player is an Undead or not.
However, due to page limitations, only the living version is shown here.*
(link:"I don't play as an Undead")[(set: $undead to false) (goto: "StartConvo")]Nivellah - Of course... Crap. We have to leave then. They can come back themselves and see that the food is rotten.
[[Say you have a better idea. The humans want food. And you know the perfect people to gather it for them.]]
[[Agree. Let them leave. You will deal with the humans.|They leave]]
[[Offer to find some food yourself to give to the humans, instead.]]
[[Shake your head. You can't let them leave now.|Fight]]Azem - Oh, *please*.
Nivellah - ... All right.
Azem - A - All right? *All right??* Have you lost your mind? We cannot become wandering foragers for these people!
Nivellah - We'll just gather some food and then leave. Just to set the record straight. I don't want these people to hold grudges.
Azem - They already do.
Prin - I'll do it.
Nivellah - We'll do it. And you too Azem. No complaining.
Narrator - The lizard grimaces for a moment, but says nothing.
Prin - Splendid! Uh... Where do you gather food?
[[BARBARIAN - Give them some advice on how to forage.|thanks]]
[[Give them some words of encouragement. They'll figure it out.|thanks]]*You leave the matter unresolved*Nivellah - *sigh*. We have found ourselves on top of a food stockpile. It was here when we came. But now, we got a village of angry humans, shouting at us they want their food back.
Azem - Thing is, we have no reason to give them *their* food back. It is *our* food now.
[[Ask them why they don't just give the food. They have no use for it, do they?]]
[[Gesture towards your weapons. You'll take it. Now.]]Nivellah - Thank you. Unfortunately, not everyone is so kind.
[[Argue it would be a good idea to give the humans the food, then. As a gesture of goodwill.|safety before food]]
[[Say you will bother them no further and leave them to their business.|leave]]Nivellah - Thanks. Now, we best be on our way.
[[Take your leave|The Undead's leave to find food.]]Azem - Nothing you need to concern yourself with.
Prin - Do you know how to tell whether food is fresh?
[[Blink in surprise. That's what they were arguing about?]]
[[Ask why Undead care about food.|Blink in surprise. That's what they were arguing about?]]Nivellah - ...All right. Have a look.
Azem - What?
[[(continue)|Give the food]]Nivellah - ...Fine. You take it, then.
Azem - What?
[[(continue)|Give the food]]Nivellah - Y-you'll do that? We don't have any way to repay you.
Prin - That's too kind. We can do it ourselves.
Azem - I'm okay with it.
Nivellah - We still have to leave. Azem was right. They'll just come back in a week wanting more.
[[Accept their offer. It might prove to the humans their kindness.|Say you have a better idea. The humans want food. And you know the perfect people to gather it for them.]]
[[Insist. They shouldn't have to deal with gathering food as well.|They leave]]
